Northside Services History
It was a man’s desire for his two children to receive the best education possible that influenced the decision to start a small, residential air conditioning company. William A. Harre, Jr. was employed fulltime with Tampa Electric when he realized that a private education would require some additional income. Choosing to work for friends, neighbors, and referrals out of an old pickup truck on evenings and weekends, Northside AC & Electrical Services was established in 1980.
Watching both children successfully graduate from college, there was no longer a driving motivation to work all hours of the day, so the company basically became dormant as Bill began to enjoy his family and free time. Both children remained local, frequently stopping by to see Mom and Dad.
After a rough day of teaching fourth graders in the world of elementary education, Brian C. Harre dropped in to visit his dad and share a bold idea. Wanting to start a small cooling and heating business, Dad honored my request to assume the original company name and register his license with the state. With only a basic understanding of electricity and a heart for people, Brian read a good book on thermal dynamics and resigned late that summer from Hillsborough County Schools. Northside AC & Electrical Services, Inc. was incorporated in October of 1997 and immediately dedicated as a Christian business.
From humble beginnings in a garage to where we are today, God’s favor has always been evident. Every year we have experienced growth, even in the midst of great turmoil. The challenges we have faced along the way have been painful at times, but they have always drawn us closer to our God in whom we trust.
Today we are a company that is rapidly approaching $10 million in annual sales while continually striving to improve the company’s position as a platform for ministry. The leadership team of Northside clearly recognizes that neither economic nor spiritual denominators mean anything without people. Therefore, it is our hope that Northside AC & Electrical Services, Inc. will continue to grow, allowing us the opportunity to point more people to Christ.
